I believe most people  have a written (or unwritten) list of things they would like to do in their lifetime.  This list is often called a Bucket List.  One of the items on my Bucket List has been to read the entire Bible.  For years I tried, but found my self getting confused or even simply bored with some of the writings and therefore lost my drive to complete the task.  I would often start at the first page in Genesis, but somewhere in the third or fourth book of the Bible I would stop.  DARN!  So a few years ago I tried again, but this time I approached it differently.

I found “The One Year Bible” in the New Living Translation.  The One Year Bible has readings for each day of the year which takes about 10-15 minutes to read.  Each day, the bite size reading is divided into an Old Testament, New Testament, Psalm and Proverb segments.  I found when the one segment was a little dry, I could count on the other segments were not.  In fact, I found myself hearing God’s voice through reading the Bible each day.   So if you want to check one more item off of your Bucket List, think about joining us here at Hartland UMC as we read through the Bible in 2013.

Blessings on your journey  🙂
