Soul Shift
The measure of a life transformed
Church-wide study beginning February 23
Do you sometimes find it hard to make changes in your life for God? No matter where you are in your spiritual life, you can make shifts to help you continue to transform your life. God continues to help you become the New Creation, but this cannot be done without your participation.
Our Lenten church wide study will follow the book Soul Shift: The measure of a life transformed, by Steve DeNeff and David Drury. Small groups will be formed for deeper study and supporting fellowship as we seek to order our lives after the example of Jesus. If you want to be more like Christ, then you must enter into intentional introspection and seek those shifts in your life which bring about lasting change.
Max Lucado writes, “SoulShift guides believers to a deeper walk with God, reveals the power and richness of the transformed spirit, and show practical ways to move our souls into alignment with our heavenly Father.”
Books will be available.

Can you touch prayer? Can you pull it close and feel it’s comfort? You can if it is part of a prayer quilt. The idea is very simple, yet very powerful. A heavy thread is used to take stitches through the quilt layers and the ends are left free to be tied with a square know. As each knot is tied, a silent prayer is offered for someone in special need. The quilt is then given to this person. What makes each quilt special is that prayer is symbolically tied into each one. Don’t worry if you can’t sew. There are many jobs available that do not require sewing.
Come join together with other Christians to prepare for the Lenten Season. Beginning with Ash Wednesday, the Lenten Season is a time of self reflection on who we are in light of our need for a Savior.
Come on this spiritual journey at Hardy United Methodist Church, Wednesday, February 18, at 7:00 p.m.

Too Busy Not to Pray
Slowing Down to Be With God
Sermon series and church-wide study beginning September 20
The world certainly hasn’t slowed down. If anything, the pace, intensity and number of distractions have only increased. Brokenness and pain seem to have increased as well, with news of civil war, poverty, broken families and sex-trafficking touching us daily.
The urgent need for prayer is clear, but busyness still keeps many of us from finding time to pray.
Two truths haven’t changed in all these years: God is the same powerful, just, holy God he’s always been; and true prayer―prayer that changes us and allows us to participate in God’s work in the world―can’t happen on the fly.
Join us for a four week sermon series and church-wide study based upon Bill Hybels’ book. The sermons and study begin September 20:
Bible study opportunities:
Sunday, 11:30am, beginning September 20
Tuesday, 7:00 pm beginning September 23
Thursday, 9:30 am beginning September 25
