At Hartland United Methodist Church we believe in the power of prayer. We pray for each other on a daily basis. “Ask and it shall be given.”

We have a strong prayer chain in our church. If you have a particular need you would like us to pray for, just send us an e-mail message and we will pray for you.
Our prayers rise to heaven, to the mystery of God’s power.
Have mercy on us, Lord, and grant us your grace.

Can you touch a prayer? Can you pull it close and feel it’s comfort? You can, if it is part of a prayer quilt. The idea behind these quilts is quite simple, yet very powerful! A heavy thread is used to take stitches through the quilt layers and the ends are left free to be tied with a a square knot. As each knot is tied, a silent prayer is offered for someone in special need—someone who has asked us to pray for them. The quilt is then given to that person. What makes each quilt special is not the pattern, color, or workman ship, but the fact that prayer is symbolically tied into each one. These comforters are a statement of faith and a testimony to our belief in God and the power of prayer. We meet in Armstrong Hall on Tuesday mornings from 9 a.m. until around noon to assemble quilts to be tied. Please join us in this ministry. Don’t worry if you cannot sew, there are many jobs available that don’t entail sewing! For meeting details, click here. If you have any questions regarding the Prayer Quilt Ministry, please contact Shelia Daniel.
